Shentel rebrands Horizon Telcom as Glo Fiber

April 17, 2024
The new name follows the telco’s acquisition of the Ohio-based independent provider.

Shentel has rebranded Horizon Telcom to Glo Fiber after it acquired the Ohio-based telco in April

Horizon provides fiber-based broadband services to commercial customers in Ohio, adjacent states, and residential customers in Chillicothe, Circleville, Lancaster, and Washington Courthouse, Ohio.

This acquisition gives Shentel an immediate presence in Ohio and enhances its overall fiber reach.

Through the Horizon acquisition, Shentel expects to pass 150,000 additional homes with fiber in greenfield markets, targeting 600,000 total passings by the end of 2026.

Besides offering residential broadband services, Shentel’s Glo Fiber Business division provides advanced data and voice services to enterprise customers, educational institutions, small businesses, and wholesale customers. Services include dedicated internet access and high-speed Ethernet with speeds up to 100 Gbps, dark fiber leasing, and managed network and security solutions.

"Glo Fiber and Glo Fiber Business have earned a strong reputation for providing superior local customer service and dependable broadband network solutions across our Mid-Atlantic markets. We are excited to bring our brand, network reliability, and customer focus to our new service areas in Ohio," said Ed McKay, Shentel's Chief Operating Officer.
