The Electroline Reverse Optical Node (ERN) is a ruggedized, compact forward optical transmitter and reverse optical receiver designed to convert CATV RF signals to optical. It offers a coaxial connection on the upstream side and an optical fiber on the downstream side. It is used to extend the ends of the coaxial network with up to 10,000 feet of fiber drop. The company says it is like a long drop cable and can serve up to four homes. The ERN offers an effective way to add hard-to-reach subscribers where it is not practical or economical to use coaxial extensions.

Judge's Comment: "This is a good solution in the service provider solution tool kit for long HFC plant extensions."
